Domain Flipping is the process of buying a domain or website, fixing it up and selling it for a profit.

The main difference between Domain Flipping and House Flipping is that House Flipping involves weeks and oftentimes months of your time to complete. House Flipping requires working with contractors, managing teams, getting-up early and going to the house each day, it's an arduous process. Domain Flipping works with your schedule - and best of all it takes place in the comfort of your own home. Imagine house flipping in your pajamas!

Domain Flipping works by focusing on two key metrics essential to domain value, traffic and revenue. If you have a domain name with great "name-value", something like Car.com or BuyCar.com then you don't need to flip the domain - it's already valuable! This is the same with house flipping - you don't flip a $20 million mansion - it's already valuable!

For those new to the Domain Name world it can oftentimes feel like all the best names are taken. When you Flip a Domain you create a new investment that grows over time. Having the perfect "name" no longer matters once traffic and revenue enter the picture.

Determining the value of a domain name is oftentimes thought of as a dark art. This is certainly true when it comes to "name-value". Who is to say that a domain name such as Ringtones.mobi is worth $50,000 or $150,000 - it's all in the name and how valuable that name is to someone.

As a Domain Flipper, "name-value" can be a great bonus, but isn't necessary to make the sale. Instead, by Flipping a Domain you create an investment that generates revenue for you each month as well as increasing in value itself! As you can see from the above posts - sellers are actively looking for domain names with traffic. By Flipping a Domain you can generate passive income for yourself and in the end sell the name for at least over one-hundred times the price you paid for it!

The math behind domain flipping is easy. Setting goals and calculating expected revenue is as easy with domain flipping. Unlike "name-value" domains where the value could mean something completely different to two people - flipped domains are easy to estimate final sale price.

Below is the math you would do as a novice flipper.

That's it. With ten domains making twelve dollars a month, you can expect to make at a bare minimum $3,240. Assuming you bought these domains for $10 each this would mean that you turned a $100 inventment into a $32,240 investment for a profit of 32x your initial investment - that kind of growth will beat any other investment known to man.

Now let's take a look at the math for a more experienced domain flipper.

This is $16,200 generated from a $300 initial investment.

It should be very clear now that Domain Flipping can produce dramatic results with very little initial investment needed up front. This is the incredible part of domain investing in general. If you think of investing in Stocks or Mutual Funds minimum investments can be as high as $10,000. With Domain Flipping you can start with as little as $10-$20 and turn that into hundreds or thousands of dollars.

As you now understand Domain Flipping is a great way to greatly increase the price of a domain name. On top of increasing a domain's value, Domain Flipping is an excellent way to generate passive income. If you look at the example above for the novice flipper in a few months time those names might be making $15-$20/month but during the time that they are not being sold, they are generating passive income for the Domain Flipper.

This is an oftentimes overlooked but a crucial part of any prudent investment strategy. You should Flip Domains in three different categories, short, medium and long-term flips. For long-term flips you can hold a name for 1-2 years enjoying the passive income it brings each month and greatly increasing it's value over time. You can set a goal for yourself like $40/month or 1-year from flipping.

Whatever your goal is stick to it, there is no rush to sell a flipped domain as there is with a flipped house. You have no property taxes, no sales agent to pay, your $10 investment in a domain name is the only financial obligation you need to make!
